Lisa Dei Gratia - Principal of Porirua Montessori Primary School
Lisa has taught in a variety of schools and age groups in the wider Wellington area including both Montessori and mainstream.
Lisa’s teaching career began in the 2000s when she had worked as a reliever and then as a music specialist teacher.
Lisa has also worked with a range of children as a tutor in Porirua,Wellington, New Zealand and has had recent experience homeschooling her own child.
Lisa believes in life long learning and has been learning Te Reo Māori which has helped her again think about what learning is and how to make Montessori more inclusive.
Lisa keeps up to date with the latest in education and has been relieving at Porirua Schools in 2022 as well as tutoring children. Lisa is particularly interested in play based education and culturally relevant maths education.
As well as running Porirua Montessori Lisa runs ‘Montessorikiwi’, a printable resource store that sells Montessori inspired materials she has created to teachers and homeschoolers around the world.
Lisa started teaching career at a young age by teaching clarinet and piano and hasn’t stopped! She has a strong passion for education and social justice.
