Started as the dream project of our Principal, Porirua Montessori started as a homeschool and after school tutoring. 

Nestled at the border of Whitby and Waitangirua our small mixed aged home like centre is designed for a maximum roll of 40-60 students and follow a Montessori way of teaching with a strong Aotearoa focus.

We welcome families who support our special character

• An inclusive montessori community that welcomes whānau from different economic, religious, family and social backgrounds
• A community that works together to help all children in our community.

All families are expected to uphold the inclusive Montessori character of the school and to treat other families and staff with respect.

All staff members are volunteers, we have a full time teaching principal and a part time teacher aide.  

Our primary school is a converted home and has great indoor outdoor flow allowing children to take their learning outside and find a place that meets their needs. We are close to lots of green space and enjoy frequent trips out into our community.
